NORMAN COOK

A NOSTALGIC NIGHT OF STORY TELLING WITH LEGENDARY DJ NORMAN COOK

Norman Cook, the man who has performed to over five million people live at the Salvador Carnival in Bahia, filled Brighton beach with 250 thousand ravers in one of the most historic outdoor events in UK history, and the only artist to have performed at Glastonbury consecutively for 26 years running, is inviting audience members to get up close and personal with him for an intimate discussion in his home town of Hove at The Old Market this October.

This event is a continuation of Norman's previous storytelling session, held in a similar format at The Old Market in November last year. Due to the overwhelming demand for more, he is returning for a second round this year.

Hosted by charismatic Brighton-based presenter Guy Lloyd, Norman will be sharing nostalgic stories from his iconic career for one night only as the pair discuss some of the breathtaking moments that raised the profile of Fatboy Slim to household name status worldwide.

It all began for Norman at the age of 14 when his brother passed down to him a copy of the first album by The Damned, the punk influence was clear across the various bands he played in as a teenager, and at 18 he rapidly developed his DJ-ing skills in Brighton’s thriving club scene.

Shortly after, Norman found himself performing as an integral part of The Housemartins, reaching Top 10 in the UK albums charts and hitting number one in 1986 with the band’s rendition of “Caravan Of Love”. In 1996 the era of Fatboy Slim emerged and the rest, as they say, is history.

Of the upcoming event, Norman says, “Having played a few energetic sets at The Old Market before, I’m really excited to return to one of my favourite venues for something a little different this time. It’ll be nice to get up close and personal with the audience once again in an intimate setting; a fun opportunity to share some of my stories from what’s been a rollercoaster career; there’s a lot to unpack so strap yourselves in!”

Your Host For The Evening…

Guy Lloyd is a Brighton-based TV and radio presenter, writer and actor. He first came to prominence hosting the Breakfast Show on Brighton’s Juice 107.2 and spent the next five years as the city’s unofficial alarm clock. After realising the early starts were ruining his good looks, he moved to Drive time in 2012, where he continued presenting until Juice was sadly bought last summer.

He now regularly covers on BBC Sussex and BBC Surrey radio and can also be heard on the national radio station, Talk Radio. He also presents on Glastonbury Festival’s official radio station, Worthy FM, every year and will be broadcasting once again, this coming summer.

Guy also presents regular shows on Latest TV, with his most-popular how, ‘Guy Lloyd’s 2-Minute Telly Show’ being a firm favourite in the city. He is currently filming, ‘Vince Venus does’ where his alter ego (as seen on Britain’s Got Talent in 2015) is challenged to take on various tasks around Brighton. Vince Venus is also the front man in Guy’s band, SOCK.

As well as his infamous appearance on Britain’s Got Talent, Guy also recently appeared on Channel 4’s ‘Come Dine with Me’ where he discovered cooking was not really his forte.

Guy is also an actor and performer and has regularly performed at comedy nights around the city, including several shows at Brighton Fringe. He is currently writing his new show, ‘Radio Blah Blah,’ which can be seen at this year’s Fringe at the Warren in May.

He regularly hosts corporate and community events around the city. These have included award shows for Brighton and Hove Albion FC, Chestnut Treehouse Spectacular Ball, Burning the Clocks, Brighton Pride and Shakedown Festival. He also regularly hosts comedy nights, karaoke and live music events around the south-east. Guy has also hosted numerous product launches and private parties.

Guy has just launched his own YouTube Channel and is planning a podcast with celebrity guests in the near future.
